JAKARTA, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said on Monday that the consumption of palm oil-based biodiesel blend, B40, reached 6.8 million kiloliters from January to June this year.
The figure accounts for 50.4 percent of the 2025 consumption target of 13.5 million kiloliters.
"Our target is 13.5 million kiloliters in 2025, with realization reaching 6.8 million kiloliters," Bahlil told a press conference at his ministry.
According to him, the B40 fuel program could save up to 3.68 billion U.S. dollars in foreign exchange by 2025.
The minister added that the government is working to boost industrial consumption of B40, exploring strategies to ensure industries can purchase the fuel at affordable prices. ■
