KABUL, July 23 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 people were killed and over 60 wounded on Sunday after a suicide bomber detonated his suicide vest near Kabul airport shortly after convoy of First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum passed by the area, Kabul police said Monday.

Dostum, after nearly 14 months living in Turkey and receiving medical treatment and recovery, returned home amid tight security on Sunday but his supporters believed he was living in exile.

Those among the killed were two women, two traffic police officers as well as several security forces and civilians. Several of the wounded remained in critical condition.

The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The blast came days after the UN mission in the country announced that 1,690 civilians were killed and over 3,430 others injured in conflict-related incidents and terrorist attacks in the first half of the year.
